Courtship

Man gives woman a red rose.
She hands it back to him, whispering
"Give me white roses."
Man gives woman a white rose
She hands it back to him, saying
"This smells too sweet."
Man gives woman a carnation
she hands it back to him, shouting
"This will die tomorrow."
Man gives woman a bleached bone
she hides it beneath her skirt, sobbing
"I am yours."
